Elon Musk will ‘uncage’ Twitter’s blue bird, shares new logo design

Elon Musk, the billionaire who took over Twitter in October, is making major changes to the microblogging website. He announced that the brand and name of the platform will be transformed. Musk revealed that the new brand will be known as X, a name he had previously mentioned when he acquired the company. The parent company of Twitter will now be called X Corp., which is a fully owned subsidiary of X Holdings Corp., also owned by Musk.

Musk also shared his plans for the new logo. He stated that if a suitable X logo is posted, it will go live worldwide the next day. In a tweet, he hinted at the new logo with a photo of a blue bird against a black background. He emphasized that the new logo is meant to represent the unique imperfections in all of us.

Shortly after, Musk posted a brief video clip, possibly revealing the new logo for Twitter. The clip shows the iconic blue bird fading into a bright, glowing X. During a Twitter Spaces session, Musk confirmed that the logo will indeed change and expressed his belief that this change should have been implemented long ago.

This logo change aligns with Musk’s vision of transforming Twitter into a “super app” similar to China’s WeChat. His goal is to turn Twitter into a platform that enables users to message, make payments, and more.

The logo redesign follows the recent launch of Threads, a rival platform to Twitter owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms. Although Threads initially gained over 100 million signups in a week, recent reports suggest a decline in engagement on the new platform.
